Taut-Line Hitch
The ultimate friction hitch for tarp guy lines. Slides to adjust tension and locks automatically under load.

FIELD TIP: If rope is wet or frozen, add a third inside wrap to prevent slip.

Anchor and First Wrap
Wrap the working end around a stake or tree, cross over the standing line, and enter the inside of the loop formed.

Double Inside Friction
Make a second full wrap inside the loop, progressing toward the anchor (stake).

Outside Lock Key
Exit the loop, pass over the standing line above the first two wraps, and finish with a simple half hitch. Cinch tight.
